My lectures take you on a journey into the past, illustrated by games, puzzles, and playing cards.
Looking at old games and repurposed playing cards together brings history to life in a unique way. You will soon become just as fascinated as I am. By using additional visual material, the games and cards are placed within a socio-historical context. Although all the facts are accurate, my narratives are anything but boring or sleep-inducing. Thanks to my research, I know many remarkable details—sometimes entertaining, sometimes moving. At every lecture, I notice the wonder and amazement in the audience. I enjoy talking about it, and that is infectious.
For all ages, for every occasion
My lectures are based on a PowerPoint presentation with many images and minimal text. I do not read from a script but speak from memory. This allows me to follow the reactions and tailor my story to the audience's interests. If questions arise during the lecture, I can answer them immediately. I also ask questions myself, which usually leads to a spontaneous dialogue. I am always happy when the attendees can add something to my story. Then I become wiser myself, too.
From half an hour to a full morning, afternoon, or evening
At service clubs, it often involves half an hour of speaking time. At other associations, I get to speak for two 45-minute sessions or even longer. And for guest lectures, sometimes a whole half day. No problem. My lectures come in various lengths.
I use a PowerPoint presentation in which I show a lot in a short time. It is a kind of documentary that leaves no room for boredom.
Lectures are possible in Dutch, English, and German.
By mutual agreement, I bring a laptop, projector, connection cables, sound system, and projection screen.
